This six foot high church praise banner, for a new créche room at a church, was great fun to make. We used bright colours and a variety of attractive materials and textures for children to touch and easily recognise. Everything was very firmly stitched on!
The grass is fur fabric, the zebras are of patterned crimplene and the ladybirds are buttons. The pig squeaks on pressure. The hippos mouth opens and closes with a zip to reveal a patterned tongue. The crocodile’s mouth opens revealing white teeth and a red velcro tongue. The ostrich’s body is a wool pompom. The fish are made of silver ironing board covering. The butterflies are of shimmering material and there are bells on the eaves of the ark. Some of the pairs of animals are obvious and some harder to find.
